Is Email Marketing Dead?

We’ve all heard it before; that email marketing is dead or dying out. That myth has been around for years, and it won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, but that’s all it is - a myth. Lots of people think that due to the increase in popularity and options of social platforms, people are moving further and further away from email marketing. However, that is not the case! There are actually still more people that use email than social media. According to Pew Research Center, 92% of adults who are online use email, making it even more efficient than social media.

Many businesses still use email marketing as a way to acquire and retain clients. According to Campaign Monitor, “You are 6 times more likely to get click-throughs from an email campaign than your are from a tweet, and a message is 5 times more likely to be seen in an email than in a Facebook post”.

There are countless benefits to email marketing, the first being that it is completely customizable to your brand and to your clients. Email marketing allows you to include the person’s name or even a short little note that is specific to them. It also allows you to segment your contacts. Instead of everyone seeing the same thing like they do on social media, you can segment your email marketing strategy to send one email to new leads, a different one to returning clients, etc.

Another major benefit of email marketing is that it gives people a chance to respond! People are more likely to respond to a personalized email than they are to an Instagram post. This increases engagement and interaction with your clients, which is something that can go a long way when trying to build strong relationships. These kind of strong relationships are what get people talking about you and even building your referral business!

All in all, NO, email marketing is not dead and it won’t be anytime soon. Email marketing is something that every brand should invest time and energy into because it’s one of the easiest and most inexpensive way to attract and retain business. Whether you send out a weekly newsletter or check in with a certain number of people via email every day, you can customize your email strategy to fit your needs and the needs of your clients.
