Pinterest Marketing Tips

While many of us use Pinterest to find aesthetic images or fun DIY ideas, it is much more than that! Pinterest is not just another social media app, it’s also a search engine! People go on Pinterest to search for relevant content including informative blogs, industry tips, business growth ideas, home décor inspo, etc. The possibilities are endless! Whether you’re new to Pinterest or just want a refresh on effective strategies, we’ve got you covered with a list of marketing strategies for Pinterest.

1. Use FRESH Content

Pinterest prioritizes new and fresh content. What does this mean? This means new images with every pin. When you’re linking your pin to a blog or website, try to use pages that have been recently published! However, even if your pin links to an older web page, it is still considered fresh content on Pinterest if you use a new & unique image that you haven’t used before!

2. Create multiple pins that direct to the same URL

If you just updated your website or posted a new blog, it is okay to create multiple pins with information from the same source. Just make sure that the pins you create are different from one another, and try to customize them to the board that you are publishing them to. The more pins you can get out of one blog/article, the more people you will be able to direct there. However, remember to only do what you can! If you only have time to create one pin, do that. It’s better to make just one than to get overwhelmed and not make any!

3. Brand Your Profile

Just like any social profile, you want to make sure your branding is consistent across Pinterest as well. Choose a profile and cover photo that make your profile unique to you and your brand! Write a bio that communicates who you are and what you do to your audience. You can also add a link to a URL that will appear directly before your bio on your profile! Another great way to brand your profile is to add your logo or website on your images; especially on images that you use as your board covers!

4. Quality>Quantity

Don’t waste your time trying to create 20 pins if the content in them isn’t high quality. Instead, start with 1 or 2 pins and take your time curating content that your audience will engage with and find valuable. When you get more comfortable using Pinterest and you understand what your audience is looking for, you can even create templates that you use as a starting point for pins. This makes the content creation part much easier, but don’t be afraid to switch up the templates every once in a while!

5. Use Keywords!

Keywords are arguably the most important aspect of SEO on Pinterest. You can place keywords in your name, bio, board descriptions, and of course, the pins themselves. The most important thing to remember with keywords is to use them naturally. You don’t want to stuff a bunch of keywords together in a way that doesn’t make sense. Not only will this not work, but it may even hinder your performance. Instead, select a few primary and secondary keywords that are relevant to your content to help the Pinterest algorithm know exactly who to show your pins to!
